Pei-Yu Wei

Pei-Yu Wei is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at Duke University. Her research interests lie at the nexus of international security, international political economy, and foreign policy. Specifically, she focuses on economic statecraft and its causes, implementation, and consequences. Her dissertation examines the role of third-party actors, both state and non-state, in influencing the sanctioning state’s decision to impose sanctions. 

She also has work exploring the effects of sanctions on women’s rights, and papers on the micro-foundations of foreign policymaking. Pei-Yu was previously a Predoctoral Fellow at the America in the World Consortium and a Carnegie Junior Scholar at the International Policy Scholars Consortium and Network.
