Kyle Balzer

Kyle Balzer is an America in the World Consortium Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Ph.D. in history at Ohio University in 2022. His dissertation, entitled “The Revivalists: James R. Schlesinger, the Nuclear Warfighting Strategists, and Competitive Strategies for Long-Term Competition,” explains the logic and benefits of strategic arms competition.

Kyle, who received his M.A. in history from Northern Illinois University, was also a student at Ohio University’s Contemporary History Institute. For the 2021-22 academic year, he was awarded the Institute’s Baker Peace Fellowship. His research interests include grand strategy, strategic arms competition, and the maturation of net assessment during the Cold War.
