Junyang Hu is a Non-Resident Lloyd and Lilian Vasey Fellow at Pacific Forum. His research centers on the question of how states pursue geopolitical influence using non-military tools, covering signaling, coercion, U.S.-China relations and Asia-Pacific security. His works have been featured in International Affairs, The Diplomat, CHINA-US Focus, and Oxford Political Review, among other publications. 

Junyang holds an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Chicago and an MSc in Security Studies from University College London. He previously served as a consultant at Stimson Center’s Defense Strategy and Planning program as well as a research fellow at Intellisia Institute.
