Cameron Dunbar

Ph.D. Candidate, Ohio University

Cameron Dunbar is a doctoral candidate and Klinder Dissertation Fellow at Ohio University, where he studies British political and diplomatic history. He is currently finishing a dissertation, “The Chance of New Greatness: The Heath Government and British Entry into the European Community, 1970-1974”, which explores Britain’s relationship with the European Communities under the government of Prime Minister Ted Heath.

The dissertation examines the broad questions of why the Heath Government decided to seek membership in the European Economic Community, the debates on the implications of joining, and, following entry in 1973, how membership transformed Britain’s domestic politics and its foreign policy. Cameron also received his M.A. in History from OU.
