Andrew Kenealy

Pre-Doctoral Fellow

Andrew Kenealy is an America in the World Pre-Doctoral Fellow at Duke University, where he is a Ph.D. candidate in political science. His research generally regards the domestic politics of international relations, with a particular focus on the United States.  

Andrew’s dissertation examines how Congress engages the American public on foreign affairs, and why it matters. Some of his academic research is published or forthcoming in Presidential Studies Quarterly and the Journal of Cold War Studies, and his policy reports and other commentary can be found in Small Wars JournalLawfare, as well as various Brookings Institution outlets.          

Andrew was the Graduate Fellow for the Duke Program in American Grand Strategy, is a Graduate Fellow with the Triangle Institute of Security Studies (TISS), and was a Junior Scholar with the International Policy Scholars Consortium and Network (IPSCON). Before graduate school, he was a research analyst at the Brookings Institution and the head coach of the Jackson-Reed High School girls rowing team. He holds a B.A. in government from Dartmouth College.
