Andrew Forney

Student, Joint Forces Staff College, National Defense University

Andrew Forney is a strategist in the U.S. Army. During his career, Andy has served in critical assignments at both the strategic and operational level, including the Office of the Undersecretary Defense for Policy, U.S. Army Futures Command, and deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently a student at the Joint Forces Staff College, Andy’s current research assesses the relationship between force design and escalation in great power conflict. 

His writing and reviews have appeared in The Modern War Institute, The Strategy Bridge, Joint Forces Quarterly, and other peer-reviewed journals. He holds a Ph.D. in history from Texas Christian University. He and his family reside in Williamsburg, Virginia.
