Our Events: Fall Fellows Summit

Recognizing the importance of building and nurturing a sense of community among fellows, AWC hosted the 2022 Fall Fellows Summit in Durham, North Carolina, from October 19-21, 2022. The Summit was an opportunity for current fellows to meet in person and engage in activities organized by the AWC fellows at Duke.

The Fall Fellows Summit focused on vocational opportunities at the intersection of academia and policymaking as well as techniques for sharing policy-adjacent scholarship through op-ed writing.

The Summit began with a keynote address from AWC Principal Dr. Peter Feaver on academic decision-making. Dr. Bruce Jentleson offered lessons learned from his Bridging the Gap Project. Additionally, Mr. Eli Lake kicked off an op-ed writing workshop with the AWC Fellows by sharing his tips and tricks for crafting an op-ed on foreign policy.

Following the Summit, our AWC fellows will turn sections of their academic research into op-eds for publication and dissemination in relevant foreign policy outlets.
